They've also found that couples who date for around 25 months prior to pursuing marriage plans end up the happiest in the midst of the marriage itself! Oh, and get this: Less than 6% of couples date for 8 years or more before agreeing to tie the knot. 

But of course, there's also the eternal-happy engagement, like Oprah Winfrey's to Stedman Graham, which rings up at over 25 years of engagement with no marriage plans at all. Whatever floats your boat, O!
