About This Quiz

Predators are animals who feed on other animals. That is, they're meat eaters (or perhaps fish, bird, or bug eaters). They have in common that their digestive systems, teeth, and social networks are simply set up to prey on other creatures. It's not that they're malicious (though some of them do love to torture their food before they eat it); it's just that it is in their nature to be higher up on the food chain.

Some predators work together in teams, like lions, wolves, and chimpanzees. They can form a group that will herd or chase their prey into a trap sprung by other members of the group, meaning they can go after really big creatures that would be dangerous to tackle solo. Other predators, like bears, alligators, most birds of prey, and most types of big cat, are lonesome. They tend to chase down creatures smaller than themselves, or at least less able to fight, such as seals or wildebeest. Still, even these predators generally do undergo a chase, even if it starts with them jumping out. Some other types of predators are all ambush, including most types of snakes; they wait for their prey and then strike.
