About This Quiz

The 1980's produced some of the most memorable movies out there. It was a period in which the teen comedy reigned supreme, with gross-out jokes and all sorts of wacky shenanigans featuring in movies such as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "The Breakfast Club," and "Sixteen Candles."

At the same time, the science fiction genre was beginning to truly come into its own, as the rise of computers and the invention of new camera technology enabled new and dazzling special effects. This laid the groundwork for sci-fi's dominance at the box office today, as directors fought to outdo each other's dazzling imagery.

A third major genre of the decade was the animated movie, which at the time was entirely dominated by Disney. This came along later with the rise of the Disney Renaissance, a series of movies starting with "The Little Mermaid" in 1989. Meanwhile, the action comedy had a good run with movies like the "Back to the Future" trilogy and "Risky Business," the film that launched a young and gorgeous Tom Cruise.
