Introversion and extroversion are two personality traits which were first popularized by Swiss psychoanalyst and psychiatrist, Carl Jung. The two traits have also been included in several other psychological models including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Hans Eysenck's three-factor model, and the Big Five Model.
Extroverts are typically seen as outgoing, energetic, friendly and assertive. They love to be around other people, and they are said to be their best when in social settings. Introverts, on the other hand, have been said to be focused on their own interests and are always in a state of self-reflection.
There have also been many rumors and stereotypes about each of the groups, some of which are true and some of which are misinterpretations. For instance, introverts are thought to be very shy but this is not necessarily the truth; they prefer solitary activities rather than social ones. Extroverts are said to love being the center of attention when in actuality, they just love interacting with other people.
