About This Quiz
How well do you remember your high school Spanish class? Did you ace every exam? Take this quiz to find out how much of your basic Spanish you remember.
Just like a baby, we learn languages first by learning the words for nouns: people, places and things. If you've ever been around children who are learning language, you may have noticed that they begin communicating verbally by saying things such as mama, dada, dog, and cat. Babies do not begin language by saying things like run, talk, or cry - although these verbs (action words) will come soon after the nouns. So, assuming you stuck it out in your Spanish class long enough to get through the basics, you might be able to identify all 35 of the nouns in this quiz.
Spanish, like many languages other than English, classifies words by gender. This means that words are either masculine or feminine. Masculine words are identified by an "el," and feminine words are identified by a "la." But, unlike some other languages, Spanish takes gender a bit further by adding either an "o" or an "a" at the end of a word.
