About This Quiz
Known as The Commonwealth of Nations, the Commonwealth includes more than 50 countries. At one point in time or another, these countries were all owned by the British Empire. And although most of them have since gained their independence, they remain members of the Commonwealth.Â
They include countries from all around the world from continents like Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America. But how much do you know about these countries that once belonged to England? Do you know enough about the members to name their capitals in this quiz? We're about to find out!

Ottawa, originally called Bytown, is the capital city of Canada. Founded in 1826, the town has since evolved into the political center of Canada and features many historical and heritage sites such as the National War Memorial and the Château Laurier.
Nairobi, Kenya's capital and largest city, is derived from the Maasai phrase "Enkare Nairobi," which translates as "cool water." The town was founded in 1899 and quickly grew to replace Kenya's former city, Machakos in 1907.
Nicosia is the largest city and capital of Cyprus, which dates back to the 10th century. Found in the town are many historical museums such as the National Struggle Museum and the Byzantine Museum, the latter featuring the largest collection of religious icons on the island.

Canberra, Australia's capital city, is the country's eighth largest city overall. It is a planned city and was designed by American architects Marion Mahony Griffin and Walter Burley Griffin, with construction beginning in 1913.
Kuala Lumpur is the national capital and global city of Malaysia, covering an area of 94 square miles, which makes it the largest city in the country. The town was established in 1859 and has since become the financial, economic and cultural center of Malaysia.
Accra is the capital and largest city of Ghana, which is divided into 10 local government districts: nine municipal districts and the Accra Metropolitan District. The town features several landmarks including the Black Square, the State House and Jamestown Lighthouse.

Castries is the capital of St. Lucia and a flood gut built on reclaimed land. It features a large, sheltered harbor where cargo vessels, cruise ships, and ferry boats dock. Landmarks found there include the Derek Walcott Square and the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Singapore is an independent city-state covering a total of 279 square miles. Founded in 1819 as a trading post, the country has since evolved into a global hub for education, finance, innovation, technology, manufacturing, tourism, entertainment, transport, and trade.
Valetta is the capital city of Malta and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Featured in the municipality is a wealth of Baroque architecture with elements of Neo-Classical, Mannerist and modern architectural styles that reflect its long and rich history.

India's capital, New Delhi, is an urban district of Delhi where the three branches of the Indian Government are seated. The city is home to many landmarks including the India Gate, a memorial dedicated to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in WWI.
Kingston, Jamaica's capital, is the largest city in this island nation. There are several parks and gardens in the city such as the Royal Botanical Gardens at Hope, which sits on 2,000 acres of land, making it the largest botanical garden in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Port Louis, the capital city and the political, economic and cultural center of Mauritius, is also the nation's most populated city with a population of 149,194 as of 2015. There are many colonial buildings such as the Government House, which were built during the 18th century by the French.

Suva, located on the southeast coast of the island Viti Levu, is the capital and largest metropolitan city in Fiji. The city encompasses a total of 790.5 square miles and features a blend of colonial architectures and modern buildings.
Belmopan, located in the Cayo District, is the capital of Belize and the smallest capital in the continental Americas by population. It is one of the newest cities in the world, having been founded in 1970 as a planned community.
Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas located on the island of New Providence. As of 2016, the city had a population of 274,400, which comprised just over 70% of the island nation's population. It was first to establish in 1670 under the original name of Charles Town.

Dhaka is the capital and largest city in Bangladesh and one of the major cities in South Asia. The town sits on 118.39 square miles and is bounded by four rivers namely the Turag River, Dhaleshwari River, Buriganga River, and Shitalakshya River.

Maseru, situated on the Caledon River, is the capital and largest city of Lesotho. It was established in 1869 by the British as a small police camp and is currently a major economic hub for the country, with tourism and foreign investments as its primary source of finance.
Port-of-Spain is the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago, which serves primarily as a retail and administrative center for the twin-island nation. Landmarks found in the town include Independence Square, MovieTowne and the Eric Williams Plaza.
Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand, named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. It is the second most populous urban area of the country and is home to the oldest and largest cultural institutions, including the National Library and the National Archives.

Uganda's capital, Kampala, is the country's largest city and the 13th fastest growing city in the world. There are several attractions in the town including Lake Victoria, the Uganda National Mosque and the Bahá'à House of Worship.
Windhoek is the capital and largest city of Namibia, where several government bodies, national enterprises, cultural and educational institutions are found. The town encompasses 1,982 square miles and sits atop the Khomas Highland plateau area, at an elevation of 5,600 feet.
Yaoundé is the capital of Cameroon and the country's second-largest city after the port city Douala. Places of interest in the town include the Cameroon Arts Museum, the Afhemi museum, the Reunification Monument and the Basilique Marie-Reine-des-Apôtres.

Rwanda's capital, Kigali, is the country's largest city, which was founded by German administrator and explorer Richard Kandt in 1907. It is situated within the Province of Kigali City and serves as a major transport, financial and cultural hub for the country.
Lusaka is Zambia's capital and one of the fastest-developing cities in southern Africa. It is the country's largest city, covering 161 square miles, with a population of 1.7 million as of 2010. Landmarks in the city include the Freedom Statue and the Lusaka National Museum.
Bridgetown, previously The Town of Saint Michael, is the capital and largest city of Barbados. It is located within the parish of Saint Michael and, as of 2014, had a metropolitan population of nearly 110,000. The Chamberlain Bridge is one of the two bridges found in the city.

Nukuʻalofa is the capital city of Tonga, situated on the north coast of the island of Tongatapu. The town is the location of the Royal Palace and several landmarks and historic sites such as the Free Church of Tonga.
Apia is Samoa's capital and largest city, encompassing a total of 47.80 square miles. It is situated on the central north coast of Upolu, Samoa's second largest island and, according to a 2011 census, had a population of 36,735.

Lilongwe, named after the Lilongwe River, is the capital of Malawi and is situated in the central region of the country. The area is divided into the New and Old City; the former houses government buildings, hotels, and embassies, while the latter is home to restaurants, markets and bus stations.
Gaborone, nicknamed Gabs, is the capital and largest city of Botswana, with a 2011 population of 231,626. Established in 1964, the town was named after Chief Kgosi Gaborone of the Tlokwa tribe and is home to many languages including Setswana, English, Kgalagadi and Kalanga.
