Flowering trees are not the short little plants that we usually think of when we hear the word "flower." In fact, some of them are so big that they can tower over our houses. They can provide us with protection from the wind, some of them filter air and other are resistant to certain diseases. But with the good also comes the bad, which means that some of these trees also have to ability to kill, both animals and humans. But we're not here to talk about the things these trees can and cannot do, although you may find some of that in our questions. We want to know whether you're able to identify some of the most popular flowering trees in the world.Â
Now although they all possess flowers, they do not all bear fruit. It's up to you to use what you know and have seen of these plants to match them to their names. We've added the popular cherry tree, crape myrtle, witch hazel and hibiscus in, but there are also some unfamiliar ones like the forsythia and mimosa tree.Â

The cherry tree is a beautiful ornamental that is widely grown across the world in many temperate regions. The climate in that region ensures that it can germinate. However, it can also be grown in the tropics, where its fruit can be seen during the summer months.

Tonto crape myrtle, usually referred to as crape myrtle, is a tree that grows easily and very quickly, and so should be carefully planted with lots of space for it to grow. This crape myrtle is the ideal backyard tree; its flowers of purple, white, mauve or pink add bright colors to the outdoors.
The oleander is a small tree or evergreen shrub with long, slender leaves and flowers of a bright pink that bloom from the early summer months until mid-fall. Do not be fooled by its pretty sight though, as the oleander is very toxic and should not be consumed in any way.
Wisteria is a vine that grows well in fertile soil that has full exposure to sunlight. This invasive vine produces beautiful flowers of lilac, pink and lavender that can be seen drooping from walls and buildings. Wisteria can be trained and grown into a lovely tree, as long as proper care is maintained.

The jacaranda tree is a South America tree that is loved for its trumpet-shaped flowers of a bright lilac bluish hue that come to life around October. This tree grows very quickly and is ideal for landscaping along streets and parks, as it will bring vivid colors into the neighborhood.
The plumeria tree thrives in the warm, tropical climate of the islands in the Caribbean, some countries in Central America and others in India and Asia. The red bird of paradise is a medium green shrub that is often referred to as the crane flower, due to its unique flowers that resemble a bird's feathers and beak. These flowers may be orange-reddish in color and bloom after the shrub is planted in the sunny outdoors in well-drained soil.
