While everyone loves Disney princesses and they get all the attention, Disney truly has created some diverse, twisted and interesting villains over the years. They run the full gamut of campy and funny to evil and downright terrifying. Children and adults alike have loved Disney's take on the darker side of human nature for generations. In fact, it could be argued that the villains even make some of their most iconic films.

Sir Hiss is one of the antagonists in the 1973 Disney film "Robin Hood." He has powers of hypnosis but mostly just flatters Prince John and enjoys the wealth he collects from the poor.

Gaston is the main antagonist in "Beauty and the Beast." Initially just annoyingly egotistical, his inability to take no for an answer turns him into a monster.

Sykes is the antagonist in the 1988 Disney film "Oliver & Company". This film is a take on the classic Dickens novel "Oliver Twist."

Cruella de Vil is the iconic villain from the film "101 Dalmatians." She is one of Disney's oddest villains in that she doesn't want fame, money or power, she just wants to turn a bunch of puppies into fur coats.

"We represent someone who can help you. Someone who can make all your dreams come true. Just imagine you and your prince together forever."

Flotsam and Jetsam are the secondary antagonists of the 1989 film "The Little Mermaid." They are the moray eel henchmen of Ursula the sea witch.

"The world is dark, and selfish, and cruel. If it finds even the slightest ray of sunshine, it destroys it!"

Mother Gothel is the villain of the Disney take of Rapunzel, "Tangled." She emotionally manipulates Rapunzel for nefarious purposes.

"So, we meet again, Buzz Lightyear, for the last time!"

Emperor Zurg is the arch enemy of Buzz Lightyear. He appears for the first time in "Toy Story 2."

“You’re speechless, I see. A fine quality in a wife.”

Jafar as the villain of the popular Disney Renaissance film "Aladdin." He is the Sultan's backstabbing advisor.

“Death is the only adventure you have left!”

Captain Hook is a classic and iconic Disney villain. While very campy, she delivers a few chilling lies.

"The world is cruel. The world is wicked."

Judge Frollo is the villain of Disney's film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." One of the more complex villains, he is mostly known for his chilling song "Hellfire."

"I'm surrounded by idiots."

Disney's "The Lion King" is one of the most successful animated movies of all time. Star is a murderous ruler taken straight from "Hamlet."

"Uh, guys? Olympus would be that way."

Hades is the villain of the Disney film "Hercules." He's a wise-cracking dealmaker with a bad temper voiced by James Woods.

"Let this be a lesson to all you ants! Ideas are very dangerous things! You are mindless, soil-shoving losers, put on this Earth to serve us!"

Hopper is the filling of the Disney film "A Bug's Life." In this film, grasshoppers exploit ants until they rise up.

"I presume, my boy, you are the keeper of this oracular pig."

"The Black Cauldron" is one of Disney's most under-appreciated animated films. The Horned King is a villain who seeks to do evil things with a magic black cauldron.

"Edgar, you sly old fox!"

Edgar Balthazar is a loyal butler who turns on his mistress when he discovers that she intends to will her vast fortune to her cats. He is the main antagonist of the 1970 Disney film "The Aristocats."

"Shut up! I'm taking the next flight down to Devil's Bayou!”

Madame Medusa is the villain of the 1977 Disney film "The Rescuers." She owns a seedy pawn shop and will do absolutely anything to get the treasure she seeks.

“I hate sunshine. I hate horrible, wholesome sunshine! I hate it, I hate it! I HATE IT!”

Madam Mim is an antagonist in the 1963 Disney film "The Sword in the Stone." She is an overconfident witch who hates all things wholesome.

"This crown gives me a feeling of power! POWER! Forgive me a cruel chuckle, heh-heh-heh..."

Prince John is one of the antagonists of the animated Disney film "Robin Hood." He's a greedy and weak ruler taking his brother's place on the throne while he fights in the Crusades.

"Listen, Friar, you're mighty preachy and you're gonna preach your neck right into a hangman's noose!"

The Sheriff of Nottingham is one of the antagonists in the 1973 animated Disney film "Robin Hood." He's not particularly loyal to the Prince, but he is happy to collect money on his behalf.

"This is my masterpiece."

Maestro Forte is the main antagonist in the 1997 Disney film "Beauty and the Beast: An Enchanted Christmas." He was a court composer turned into a bitter living organ chained to the wall.

"This is my land! I make the laws here! And I say anyone who so much as looks at an Indian without killing him on sight, will be tried for treason and hanged!"

Governor Ratcliffe is the villain of the 1995 Disney film "Pocahontas." He seeks riches and fame at any cost, and is even willing to kill an entire civilization for them.

"Ah, you have spirit for one so small. And such spirit is deserving of a sporting chance. Now, I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten. It makes the chase more interesting ... for me. One ..."

Shere Khan is the antagonist of the 1967 Disney film "The Jungle Book." He hates humans and seeks Mowgli.

"You don't want me to look at you? Then you look at me."

Kaa is one of the antagonist of the 1967 Disney film "The Jungle Book." He can hypnotize his victims to sleep before eating them.

"We are Siamese if you please. We are Siamese if you don't please."

Si and Am are the antagonists of the 1955 Disney film "Lady and the Tramp." They are a pair of Siamese cats who like to cause trouble for others.

"By building his wall he challenged my strength. Well, I'm here to play his game."

Shan Yu is the villain of the 1998 Disney film "Mulan." He is voiced by Miguel Ferrer.

Sid is the antagonist of the 1995 Disney film "Toy Story." He is a sadistic kid who likes to torture unsuspecting toys.

Stromboli is an antagonist in the 1940 Disney film "Pinocchio." He tries to trick Pinocchio into a showbiz life so he can make money off him, even at his own expense.
