About This Quiz
You would not know it from its contemporary image, but the sport of basketball has been around since the 1890s. Basketball was the invention of a physical educator in Springfield, MA, who needed a sport that would keep kids active during the winter, which was particularly brutal in New England. The sport evolved over time, moving from peach baskets to metal rings with netting. The 1970s gave the NBA its first superstars. The 1980s and 1990s provided the NBA it's biggest superstars, and the 21st century has given the sport players who break all the traditional molds of what people expect is possible from a player.
Sports are encouraged in society in part because they are seen as useful for building character. Sports teach teamwork, discipline, and spur personal growth. Business leaders often point to their time as student-athletes as the source of the personal growth that made them successful. Specific sports tend to encourage specific qualities, and basketball is no different. We think that if we ask you some questions, we can determine which position you played when you played basketball when you were growing up. Do you think our analysis can point to your varsity position? Take the quiz and find out!
