About This Quiz
As two of the biggest hits to come out of the young adult genre, "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent" resonate with millions of readers, and the overlap between the fandoms is pretty substantial. This makes sense, after all; both series focus on a teenage girl living in a dystopian world, who takes on the establishment and brings a new kind of justice. They both posit worlds in which environmental destruction and war have laid our previous civilization low, and a relatively low population of survivors has built a new and dysfunctional society.
However, the two heroes are very different, as fans of both trilogies know. Katniss is a reluctant hero who only gets involved in order to protect her little sister, Primrose. Katniss doesn't believe in the system in which she lives, but she is not political and doesn't really think about the idea of systemic change. Her focus is survival, primarily for her family and secondarily for herself. Tris, meanwhile, is actually quite invested in the system. Her initial act of rebellion is about switching factions, but she doesn't question the wisdom of the system itself at first. Her journey is thus more internalized, as she needs to liberate her mind to query the system; Katniss has already reached that point. Tris is ahead of Katniss in that she has a stronger understanding of power dynamics and allies, so she is better-placed to destroy the system, partly as a result of having been a part of it in a more substantial way.
Which of these two heroes are you most like? It's time to find out!
