How picky are you about oranges?
I don't like oranges.
They are pretty much all the same.
I like most kinds of oranges, but I definitely do have a variety that I prefer.
I have a very specific kind of orange grown at a specific grove that I prefer.
How often do you wear socks?
It's pretty rare for me to wear socks.
Most of the time, but I do wear sandals on the weekends.
Only when I go bowling.

How big does a hill have to be to be considered significant?
Anything over 100 feet.
It would have to be 1,000 feet to get my attention.
A hill 2,000-feet above sea level would be significant.
Between 200 or 300 feet is pretty significant.
Do you own a boat?
I have one, but I hardly ever use it.
I have a boat and I use it all the time.
I don't own one and I don't know anyone who does.
No, but I have plenty of friends who do.
Do you have a basement?
Yes, I have a full-sized finished basement.
I wish. I never have had one and I expect I never will.
I have a small unfinished basement.
I used to have a basement, but not in my new house.

How often do you use an umbrella?
I never use an umbrella. This storm is going to pass soon.
I use one from time to time, but it's pretty rare.
I do use an umbrella most of the time, but not for short sprinkles.
I always use an umbrella when it's raining.
How many sweatshirts do you own?
I have a bunch of sweatshirts.
I have a handful, but I mostly just have them for trips north.
I have a couple of them, but they hardly ever get worn.
I have one sweatshirt for when the temperature drops below 70 degrees.
Have you ever attended a hurricane party?
I've been to a few over the years.
I haven't, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
I've hosted a number of those events.
People do that? That sounds dangerous.

How do you feel about love bugs?
I pretty much dread love bug season.
I don't have much experience with them, but they don't sound that bad.
I love those old Volkswagen cars.
They are pretty annoying, but it's just part of life here.
What is your prime objective when looking for a parking spot?
I don't have any objectives. I'm not driving around the parking lot all day.
I'm looking for a spot that is close to the front door.
I just find the first parking spot that's open.
I'm looking for a space in the shade.
Have you worn flip-flops to a formal event before?
No, I've never done that.
I do that all the time. I even have formal flip-flops for such occasions.
I've been tempted to do that, but haven't done it yet.
I've done that a time or two.

How is your Spanish?
I'm basically bilingual. I can carry on a conversation pretty well.
I can get by pretty well. I know the basic words.
My Spanish is pretty weak, but I'm working on it.
I don't really know any Spanish.
Have you ever worn shorts on Christmas?
I have never had the joy of that experience.
I've been in shorts once or twice on Christmas.
I have definitely done that a number of times before.
I'm in shorts for pretty much every Christmas.
Can you tell the difference between fire ant bites and mosquito bites?
I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference.
I struggle a bit to know the difference.
Yeah, I get both on a regular basis.
I've never been bitten by a fire ant.

When you hear the phrase "down South," what do you think of?
Key West.
Georgia and Florida.
Anything south of the Mason-Dixon line.
South Florida.
Have you ever used aloe vera?
I've used it a few times, but I'm starting to think I need more of it.
My skin has gotten pretty dark, but I do keep some around just in case.
I have never used it. What is it for?
I have gallon jugs of the stuff.
Have you ever run the air conditioner on New Year's Day?
No, I've only run a heater on that day.
That's pretty much what happens every New Year's Day.
I've done that once or twice.
It's cool enough to not need air conditioning on in most years, but I have done it a few times.

Do you know what a snowbird is?
Yep. We kind of look forward to those part-timers taking off.
Yeah, that would best describe who I am.
I've heard of it, but I'm not sure what it is.

How many of your friends are over 65 years old?
I don't really know very many retirees.
I know a decent amount of retirees, but probably not more than a handful.
I would say that I'm friends with more retirees than your average person.
I have a huge number of retiree friends.
Do animal sounds disturb your sleep?
There are some unusual animal sounds that wake me up, but that is rare.
I still have some trouble with the volume of nature sounds.
Not at all. I'm not sure I could sleep without the sounds of nature.
Yes, animal sounds really upset my sleep.

How do you feel about summers in Florida?
They are warm, but that's how I like it.
They are pretty miserable, I have to admit.
They are atrocious. I don't think I can do it.
Some days can be pretty miserable, but that's when you head to the beach.
How do you feel about a 70 degree day?
That's a mild and comfortable day.
It's alright, but I do prefer it to be warmer.
It's a warm day.
It's pretty chilly out there.
When was the last time you got burned by the metal on your seatbelt?
That happened to me just the other day.
I learned that lesson long ago. It hasn't happened in years.
It's happened in the last year a time or two.
It's been a while since I've burned myself on a seatbelt.

What would you think about seeing a six-foot gator?
Aw, just a little guy.
It's not big deal. That's about average size for gators around here.
I'm a little freaked out, but I've seen bigger.
I'm running in the other direction as fast as I can.
What category of hurricane makes you worry?
Any mention of the word hurricane makes me nervous.
Category two or more.
Category three is when I start to get concerned.
It has to be more than a Category three storm to make me worry.
Have you ever been through Yeehaw Junction?
I've traveled through there a time or two.
I've heard of it, but I haven't been through there before.
Yep, I've been through there a bunch of times.

How shocked are you by bizarre news events coming out of Florida?
Nothing shocks me anymore.
The news is still pretty bizarre to me, but I'm getting used to it.
The stuff that comes out of Florida is very weird and shocking.
I've learned to expect the unexpected, but I do still get shocked from time to time.
Do you cheer for any Florida college football teams?
I'll cheer for all of them.
While I do have a favorite, I will cheer for other Florida teams when they play someone from out of state.
I don't cheer for any Florida teams.
Are you crazy? No, I have a specific Florida team that I'm very passionate about.
Which is your favorite grocery store?
Kroger.
Publix.
Harris Teeter.
Piggly Wiggly.
