Their relationship transformed on screen and moved right into the lives of millions of Americans, solidifying the film as one of the best-selling and most endearing romantic comedies of all time.
The chemistry was so natural between Gere and Roberts that they would team up nine years later for the 1999 classic Runaway Bride. While also being one of the best selling romantic comedies of all time, it doesn't touch the classic that is Pretty Woman.

Barney Thompson taught her to remember forks by the number of tines that correspond with the appropriate meal. He also helped Vivian out by calling his friend Bridget to help dress her appropriately for the evening.
The song was originally released as a single in 1964 by Roy Orbison and the only other recording of this song was done by Van Halen in 1982.

Vivian greeted Edward naked, wearing only the tie. He said, “Nice tie.” She said, “I got it for you.”
Edward punches Phillip and yells at him to get out, essentially terminating their relationship. He then ices her face.

Edward doesn’t drink, so he was just sitting in a chair behind her observing and smirking over her boisterous laughter clearly enjoying her company.
A flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco takes approximately 56 minutes. The opera he takes her to see is La Traviata, which is about a prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy man.
Edward tells Phillip that his car “corners like it’s on rails,” quoting Vivian referring to the Lotus he borrowed the night he met Vivian. Philip Stuckey sexually assaults Vivian after Edward decides to partner with the Morse company instead of buying it like they had originally planned.

They were implying she didn’t have enough money to pay for them. They told her, “Please leave now,” and she left the store feeling sad and ashamed.
Vivian shares with Edward that when she was younger she wanted the fairytale where she's rescued by a knight in shining armor. When they filmed the earlier scene with Vivian talking about wanting to be a princess who's rescued from a tower, they still hadn't written the movie's ending where Edward "rescues" Vivian.
He is carrying roses and blaring opera music out of the windows. The music was a recording of an aria from L"a Traviata," the opera the couple had seen earlier in the film.

Edward then asks her how much for the entire night ($300) so they can just relax. Vivian has a memorable line in this scene: "I appreciate this whole seduction thing you've got going on here, but let me give you a tip: I'm a sure thing."
She wants to please him so much that he can call her whatever he wants. For the duration of the movie, the manager of the hotel calls her Miss Vivian.
Vivian was singing "Kiss" by Prince not realizing that Edward was standing over her watching, then she felt embarrassed and took the headphones off. She was shocked that he was seemingly not a fan of Prince.

She says, “You’re late.” He says, “You’re stunning.” She replies, “You’re forgiven.” It was the first time he sees her all dressed up.
This two-mile long street is a major tourist attraction and hotspot for luxury-goods stores including Tiffany's and Chanel.
She wore this the first night, and the next day until she was able to buy new clothes with Edward’s money since the outfit was deemed inappropriate for the new company she was in at the hotel and with Edward.

This scene revealed a goof in the movie – Vivian had just got out of the bathtub, but when she jumps on the bed, the viewer can see that her feet are filthy dirty!
He gives her his brown trench coat, but Vivian still doesn’t cover up enough to hide her look, turning many heads as she struts through the lobby.

Vivian is surprised when she hears him answer, "Both," and says to him, "Where are they? Shopping, together?" As it turns out, Edward was not with either of them anymore.
"Pretty Woman" was released on March 23, 1990, Rated R with a running time of 1h 59min. It cost $14 million to make and earned $463.4 million at the box office.

The Lotus did not have an automatic transmission, and Edward didn’t know how to drive a stick shift, so Vivian took the wheel. She tells him that the pedals are closer together which makes it easier for women to drive since they have smaller feet she then jokes about how she has big feet wearing a size 9.
They settle on $3,000 to which she replied “Holy sh*t!” They then reveal to each other that he would have paid more and she would have stayed for less.
She asks for $5 but all Edward has are $20s, so she grabs it and she says for that she’ll show him to the hotel personally and hops in the car!

Sandra Bullock and Diane Lane also turned down the role of Vivian. This role made Julia Roberts the go-to rom-com actress of that time.
